Title Fight Re-ignites
Renault Clio Cup UK Heads To Snetterton
James will look to reinvigorate his Renault UK Clio Cup title hopes as the highly-competitive single make category returns to action at Snetterton this weekend [28-29 July].
Westbourne Motorsport racer Dorlin has an unprecedented five race victories - taken in succession at Donington Park, Thruxton and Oulton Park - in 2018, and with two further podiums, three pole positions and a brace of fastest laps to his name has proven himself ‘one to watch’ in a three-way title fight.
With qualifying proving crucial in the hotly-contested series, Dorlin’s enviable position as the best average starter looks set to continue as he bids to put a frustrating double-header at Croft firmly behind him.
The 2.99 mile Norfolk circuit is fresh in the memory for Dorlin, who took the opportunity last week to also sample Hart GT’s Ginetta G55 as options for 2019 continue to be evaluated.
A capacity trackside crowd is anticipated for the double-header in excess of the regular 35,000+ attendees, with the headlining British Touring Car Championship marking it’s 60th Anniversary at the event.
Dorlin will once again be paired with 2011 championship runner-up James Colburn and a new team-mate, with Colburn’s sibling Ben making the step up to run a dual campaign alongside his Michelin Clio Cup Series commitments with Westbourne.
The weekend gets underway with Qualifying at 11:30 on Saturday [28th], with both races scheduled at 09:55 and 15:45 BST the following day.
James Dorlin said, “There’s no two ways about it - Snetterton is an important weekend for our championship. There’s only one objective, and that’s claiming both race wins.
“After losing ground on the leaders at Croft there’s only one thing on my mind and that’s getting back to the front where we’ve belonged all season. We gained some valuable data in testing a couple of weeks ago, so I expect us to hit the ground running and sit at the sharp end of the timesheets from the get-go.
“I know Westbourne Motorsport will prepare a fantastic car for me - as always - and my sponsors are right behind me. We’ve had a lot to celebrate together so far in 2018 - long may that continue.”
