Optimism high at 'home' event

Clio Cup arrives at Croft

James arrives at his local Renault UK Clio Cup event at Croft Circuit this weekend [23-24 June] with the focus on retaining his championship lead and re-kindling his winning streak in the category.

Westbourne Motorsport racer Dorlin has already taken to the top step of the podium on five occasions in 2018 - twice at both Donington Park and Thruxton and again last time out at Oulton Park.

The trip to Cheshire a fortnight ago also held a further podium finish and contributed significantly to Dorlin’s current 4 point advantage atop the standings, which doubles when dropped scores are factored in at this early stage of the campaign.

With four victories on his career CV already at the 2.1 mile Yorkshire venue during time spent in the Michelin Clio Cup Series and BARC-run Saxmax category, the ingredients are there for another strong showing this time around.

The weekend gets underway with qualifying and the opening race on Saturday at 11:20 and 16:00 respectively, before ITV Sport’s cameras broadcast live nationwide for Round 10 at 13:55 on Sunday.

James Dorlin said,“Last time out we managed to extend our championship lead, and heading into this weekend at Croft the objective is exactly the same.

“We’re on home soil up in Yorkshire and we’ve enjoyed plenty of success here before, so it’d be nice to get a repeat of that in both races. Testing during Friday should put us in a strong position to attack the weekend from the get-go, and I know Westbourne Motorsport will have the car performing well straight out of the box.

“A massive thanks as always to my sponsors - Vantage Motor Group and GardX Protection among others - it’s been a great year to date and I’m sure that’ll only continue this weekend.”
