Next stop, Oulton Park

James is aiming to continue blistering early-season form at Oulton Park

James heads to Oulton Park next weekend [09-10 June] aiming to repeat past successes and extend his current advantage in the Renault UK Clio Cup standings.

The Westbourne Motorsport racer continued to impress last time out at Thruxton, claiming another brace of victories in challenging conditions to stretch his winning streak to four in a row and claim the championship lead.

The first came after the Vantage Motor Group and GardX Protection-backed driver took his opportunities and defended well to edge out fellow title protagonists Max Coates and Daniel Rowbottom.

Starting alongside series stalwart Paul Rivett for the second race – screened live nationwide through ITV Sport’s free-to-air television coverage alongside a capacity trackside audience – Dorlin seized the lead on the outside of Allard and duly pulled away, denying Rivett any chance to strike back as he took to the top step of the podium once again.

Oulton Park is another of Dorlin’s favourite haunts – in 2016 he claimed both race victories, pole positions and fastest laps during his title-winning Michelin Clio Cup Series campaign – and the BRDC Rising Star heads to Cheshire confident of a repeat success once again.

A repeat of his stellar drives at Donington Park and Thruxton would see Dorlin equal Jonathan Adam’s record of six consecutive victories in the hotly-contested single make category, with Renault Sport also recently revealing the 19-year old has already led the most laps and highest mileage thus far in 2018.

The weekend gets underway with Qualifying at 11:00 and the opening race at 16:00 on Saturday [9th June], followed by race two at 13:30 the following day.

James Dorlin (#32) said, “We’re in the best position so far this campaign as championship leaders, but that doesn’t bring any extra pressure and it isn’t changing my mind set heading into the weekend at Oulton Park.

“The more race victories we can put on the board whilst the momentum is on our side, the more that’ll pay dividends at the business end of the season. The important thing at this stage is to keep a level head, our feet on the ground and approach it as we do every race weekend.

“It’s been fantastic to give my sponsors so much TV exposure at the sharp end of the field recently – long may that continue!”
