James aims for first British GT victory at Snetterton

Star in action at 11:10 & 15:25 on Sunday, with live coverage available across championship channels and SRO’s YouTube feed.

McLaren GT4 rising star James Dorlin is aiming for a maiden victory in the British GT Championship after a superb debut showing as series returns to action at Snetterton next weekend [18th-19th May].

The BRDC Rising Star stormed through alongside team-mate and fellow McLaren Development Driver Josh Smith to take a first podium in the UK’s premier GT racing category from the fifth row of the grid at Oulton Park last month.

Though circumstances out of the team’s control would deny them a near-identical performance in the second contest, the message to the opposition was clear – Tolman Motorsport’s McLaren 570S GT4 is a contender in 2019.

Heading to the 2.99-mile Norfolk circuit, the objective for Vantage Motor Group and Prototype Creative-backed driver Dorlin is clear – a first trip to the top step of the podium.

“After the strong pace we showed at Oulton Park, I’m confident a pair of podium finishes are on the cards this weekend, as a minimum,” said Dorlin.

“We were very close to winning the first race last time out, so in my opinion there’s nothing stopping us from achieving that maiden victory. We gained plenty of data at Oulton Park to put into action for this weekend, and we’re definitely in a better position heading into the weekend now than we were for the season-opener.

“Having that first weekend in the championship under my belt helps, too. Testing has been progressing well and, as always, Tolman Motorsport and McLaren Automotive will provide a very competitive car for any conditions, so let’s see what happens!”

A brace of practice sessions kick off the weekends action for Barnsley-based racer Dorlin, scheduled for 09:30 and 11:40 respectively, ahead of qualifying at 16:18.

Racing begins the following day, with races getting underway at 11:10 and 15:25. Live coverage is available across British GT’s social media channels, website and the SRO YouTube channel.
