James aiming to strike back as British GT returns to Donnington

Vantage Motor Group and Prototype Creative-backed racer confident pre-race preparation will pay dividends.

McLaren GT4 rising star James Dorlin is aiming to strike back and take a maiden victory in the British GT Championship when the category returns to action at Donington Park this weekend [22nd-23rd June].

It was disappointment for the BRDC Rising Star last time out at Silverstone - the 'Home of British Motorsport' - after a late mechanical problem denied Dorlin and team-mate Josh Smith a maiden GT4 victory in the final hour.

The result, which leaves the Vantage Motor Group and Prototype Creative racer eighth in the standings, has only served to renew Dorlin's resolve for a first trip to the top step of the podium.

Strong pre-race preparation with Tolman Motorsport, the McLaren 570S GT4 and the rest of the McLaren Driver Development Programme have also fed into the belief that this weekend's two-hour contest around the 2.49-mile GP circuit could finally yield the silverware the #4's pace has so far merited.

The weekend's action begins with two free practice sessions at 09:40 and 11:50 on the Saturday, ahead of qualifying at 16:03.

Race day features the usual warm-up at 09:40 before the race begins at 13:10.

James Dorlin said, "The obvious goal for Donington is to try and come away with that elusive first win. It feels so long coming after what happened at Silverstone.

"The potential we have is massive and you can see that in the fact we are leading races and consistently having strong pace so I think a win is now well overdue.

"From the second we got off the track at Silverstone I was looking to Donington. I’ve worked hard preparing for it during the last two weeks so let’s now see what happens.

"It would be great to get the first win at my local circuit!"
