James Dorlin heads back to domestic shores aiming to dispel his recent run of bad luck and claim a maiden British GT Championship victory at Brands Hatch this weekend [3^rd-4^th August].

The BRDC Rising Star and McLaren Development Driver has been arguably the class of the field alongside team-mate Josh Smith over the past three meetings, with an unbelievable run of bad luck denying the #4 Tolman Motorsport-run McLaren 570S a trip to the winners’ circle on each occasion.

The Vantage Motor Group and Prototype Creative-backed racer was denied in cruel fashion last time out at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, leaping from fourth to the race lead in superlative fashion around the outside of La Source.

He would hold that position to the compulsory driver swap, but final lap contact denied Dorlin and Smith a long-awaited triumph once again.

Undeterred, however, Dorlin is ready for action once again around the 2.4-mile Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, with the focus on ending a ‘proud’ year representing McLaren with a brace of victories.

The weekends action begins with both free practice sessions and that all-important qualifying session on Saturday, with the usual Warm-Up and two-hour Race scheduled for the Sunday, with a capacity crowd expected in Kent.

James Dorlin (#4) said, “We’ve led almost every lap that we’ve raced over the past three events, and with that in mind, I think we have a good chance to be battling for the race win yet again at Brands Hatch this weekend.

“I truly believe with the performance we’ve shown from the Tolman Motorsport McLaren 570S, we should have been comfortably battling for the British GT title if it wasn’t for this terrible run of bad luck.

“The plan now is just to end the season on a high and hopefully lift this luckless cloud, as it’s doing everybody at Tolman and McLaren a huge injustice.

“It would definitely top off what has been an incredible experience proudly representing one of the greatest marques in the world this season if we were to end it with some race victories to show for the huge effort everybody puts into this programme.”
