Double Points at Rockingham

Jamrs maintains Renault UK Clio Cup title contention with double points haul at Rockingham Motor Speedway.

James Dorlin kept himself in Renault UK Clio Cup title contention after claiming a brace of points finishes last weekend [11-12 August] at Rockingham Motor Speedway.

BRDC Rising Star Dorlin arrived at the Northamptonshire venue as one of four drivers still likely to lift the honours, with an unprecedented five race victories to his name.

The Vantage Motor Group and GardX Protection-backed racer also holds the enviable record as best average qualifying position in the field, but Dorlin would be denied a fifth pole position of the season by a mere 0.1 seconds on Saturday.

A lightning getaway from the second row saw Dorlin temporarily seize the lead heading through the fast banking at Turn 1 in the opening race.

Though that optimistic attempt to wrestle control didn't pan out, the Westbourne Motorsport racer remained in contention at the front until contact from a competitor behind sent the #32 car across the grass, and into recovery mode once again.

Dorlin would take the chequered flag in fifth, and backed it up during Sunday's live televised race on ITV4 with another haul of points to keep himself firmly in the championship hunt.

The UK's most hotly-contested single make category returns to action at Silverstone - the scene of Dorlin's superb wet weather triumph in 2017 - across the weekend of 15-16 September.

James Dorlin said, "It's been a tough weekend but we have time on our side and we're still in the championship hunt.

"We have two circuits coming up that we've been successful at in the past and with the support from everyone at Westbourne Motorsport as well as my sponsors Vantage Motor Group and GardX Protection, I've absolutely no doubt in my mind as to what we're capable of come the end of the season.
