Dorlin set for graduates cup title fight at Brands

Westbourne Motorsport’s James Dorlin heads to the world-famous Brands Hatch circuit this weekend [29/30 September] with the opportunity to secure the Graduates Cup, the Renault UK Clio Cup’s coveted title for full-season rookies.

The Vantage Motor Group-backed driver arrives at the season finale in Kent a mere 14 points adrift of Team Pyro’s Nathan Harrison, and on the crest of a wave after securing his second career victory at Silverstone last time out.

The 18-year old cut through from the second row of the grid to seize the lead and hold off pole-sitter Lucas Orrock despite the torrentially wet conditions, before holding his own against some of championship’s elder statesmen to claim fifth – and another Graduates Cup victory – in the second race, with the top five split by just 1.2 seconds at the chequered flag.

Dorlin’s charge towards the class title will again be witnessed by an anticipated capacity crowd at Brands Hatch exceeding 30,000 spectators, with free-to-air television coverage available as usual on ITV4 and in HD.

James Dorlin said, “Heading into the final weekend of my rookie Renault UK Clio Cup season at Brands Hatch this weekend, the objective is clear – to win the Graduates Cup title. We’ve enjoyed a pretty successful season so far and I feel like we’ve learned something new at every event, now it’s just about bringing it all together and seeing how we stand up to the opposition. “Brands Hatch is such an iconic venue, and definitely one of my favourite circuits. It’s strange to think the last time we were here in April, I’d never turned a wheel in anger in the championship, and now we have two victories, three podiums, a pole position and a fastest lap to our name. It’s been a wild ride, hopefully we can end it on a positive note ahead of 2018."
